How to Reach Chikmagalur from Bangalore by Train
Trains from Bangalore to Chikmagalur don’t offer many options for transportation.
The Yesvantpur Chikmagalur Fast Passenger (Train Number 56288) runs every day, and is the only passenger train. In about 6 hours and 45 minutes, it travels 245 kilometres from Yeshwantpur station, about 8 kilometres from central Bangalore, to Chikmagalur at 10 pm. It stops at 20 intermediate stations along the way.
The rail network between Bangalore and Kadur, about 40 km from Chikmagalur, is much better, however. Depending on whether you are okay with travelling by road from Kadur to Chikmagalur, there will be six to seven trains from Bangalore (Krishnarajapuram, Bangalore City, and Yesvantpur stations) to Kadur, most of which will cover the distance of around 200 KM in three to four hours. Kadur (code name DRU), which is about 40 KM away from Chikmagalur and close to the main city area, is the closest railway station.
